The 3-minute questions and answer period will be followed by a minute interview. All interview questions are considered general knowledge questions. Testing times are am — pm Eastern Time, exceptions outside these times will be made on days when there is a high volume of test takers.
Testing will be online. The ITA department will be using the video and conference communications tool Zoom to screen candidates. To use Zoom you will need a Windows or Apple computer with speakers and a microphone. A working camera will be required. Zoom works best when it is being run from the installed app. More information about the online testing requirements will be sent to the student upon registration. The Microteaching Test registration form will be available two months before the test.
When registering for the test, students need to provide evidence of a department offer for a Teaching Assistantship for the upcoming semester and the topic they plan to present. After the registration form has been submitted, a staff member will contact the student with further instructions.
The student is responsible for obtaining certification in a timely fashion. The academic unit is responsible for reviewing the certification in PeopleSoft before employing the student in an instructional role. Note: Please see the policy and procedure for students who are non-native English speakers and qualified for the language proficiency test waiver for admission.

If you will be a Teaching Assistant in a language department, you do not need to take a Microteaching Test. Students who do not pass the Microteaching test may not be appointed to a position with direct instructional contact and must be retested.
Students who receive an overall Versant score lower than 57 may not be appointed to a position with direct instructional contact and must be retested. Certification of English proficiency may be obtained by meeting one of the following requirements: Speak English as a native language.
